The Homestead Academy (THA) was born out of a necessity to develop each child based on their specific learning needs instead of the widespread systemic approach, and to foster the beloved identity in each soul. Matt and Jamie Brown's two daughters, Emery and Finleigh, struggled in the one-size-fits-all public system. Both girls were diagnosed with Dyslexia from a young age. While they did not lack intelligence, Matt and Jamie quickly realized that not all brains are wired to learn in the same way. They understood the need for a new model tailored to individual learning styles, one that also provided parents with the flexibility and authority to make educational decisions for their children.

Hands-on experiential learning is also at the core of our educational beliefs. Our afternoons are dedicated to getting away from screens and into projects and active learning. Some examples are science dissections, art projects, research and presentation of other countries, health including knowledge of internal body (heart, respiratory system, etc.), and general cultivation of creativity. In 2024 our students participated in the Future Cities STEM project using the EDP (Engineering Design Process) to create a sustainable city model.

The Homestead Academy is committed to nurturing a safe and supportive environment where children can thrive emotionally and socially. We understand the importance of socio-emotional skills in a child’s development, and our curriculum integrates opportunities for students to collaborate, communicate, and cultivate strong relationships.

At THA, we believe that education should be a joyful journey of discovery, and we strive to create a space where children can grow academically, socially, and spiritually, preparing them for a bright future grounded in faith and knowledge.​​​
